Students Reflect and Set Goals - New Year's Resolutions Worksheets

Spanish and French Writing New Year's Resolutions

Bonjour and ¡Hola, language lovers! The start of a new year is the perfect time to help students reflect on their past achievements and set goals for the future. That is why we are excited to introduce our newest resource: the Spanish and French New Year’s Resolution Worksheet! Designed to inspire students to reflect on the past and focus on their future goals, this activity encourages students to practice their language skills while sharing their favorite memories and aspirations.

What’s Included? This worksheet is crafted to suit beginner and intermediate learners in both Spanish and French. Here’s what it features:

Favorite Things Section: Students reflect on the highlights of the past year, such as their favorite food, book, or song. Prompts are available in both Spanish and French, with space for students to write their answers.

Goal-Setting Section: Students set new goals for the new year, whether related to personal growth, hobbies, or language learning.

Suggested Use and Differentiated Learning

  • For beginners, students can list their favorite things. The worksheet on reflection on the past has a variation in which the words and spaces are bigger for younger students or for students who would benefit from that variation.
  • Depending on the level of the students, you can have them list their answers for each section or have them write complete sentences.
  • There are more than enough sections for students to practice their writing. These worksheets can be used as an activity to kick-start the year or as a homework assignment.
  • Students can work individually or collaboratively. Encourage students to pair up and share their answers in their target language.
  • Display students’ worksheets on a New Year-themed bulletin board or have them present their favorite moments and goals to the class.
  • In the section on goal setting, have students write Spanish or French language learning goals such as mastering 20 new words or practicing verb conjugations weekly.

Why This Worksheet Works

Engagement: By focusing on their own experiences, students stay motivated and excited to participate.

Skill Development: The activity combines writing, reading, and creative thinking in the target language, helping students develop well-rounded skills.

We have found that the Spanish and French New Year’s Resolution Worksheet is more than just an activity—it’s a way to help students reflect on their personal growth and plan for future success while building their language skills. We ask students to keep them in their binders, and one activity that we complete at the end of the year is reviewing the goals to see if they were achieved.

Whether you teach Spanish, French, or both, this resource is a great way to start the year on a positive and productive note. Ready to inspire your students to dream big and reflect deeply? À bientôt y ¡Hasta pronto!

P.S. I’d love to hear how your students enjoyed this activity. Share your classroom experiences or their creative responses in the comments below or leave us feedback on TpT under the product. Thank you!
